FAQ

Wildlife Safari FAQs

Which is the best national park for wildlife in Western Nepal?
Bardiya National Park is considered Nepal's best-kept wildlife secret — it has a high density of Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceros, wild Asian elephants, and gharial crocodiles, all with far fewer crowds than Chitwan. Shuklaphanta National Park is exceptional for swamp deer herds (the world's largest) and tigers.
What wildlife can I see in Bardiya National Park?
Bardiya is home to Bengal tigers (highest density in Nepal outside Chitwan), one-horned rhinoceros, Asian elephants, wild boar, spotted deer, barasingha, four species of deer, Gangetic and Irrawaddy dolphins in the Karnali River, over 400 bird species including the Bengal florican, and gharial and mugger crocodiles.
When is the best time for a wildlife safari in Western Nepal?
October to March is the peak safari season. The dry season (February–April) is best for tiger sightings as vegetation thins and animals congregate around water. Avoid July–August when the monsoon floods parts of the park and makes wildlife viewing difficult.
What activities are available in Bardiya for wildlife viewing?
Safari options include elephant-back safaris, jeep safaris, guided nature walks, canoe trips on the Karnali River for dolphin and crocodile watching, bird watching at dawn, and cultural visits to nearby Tharu villages. We offer full multi-day packages combining all these activities.
