Trekking FAQs
What is the best trekking season in Western Nepal?
October to November offers the clearest skies and stable weather — ideal for high-altitude treks. March to May is excellent for spring blooms. Avoid the monsoon (June–September) for most routes, though some lower-elevation treks in Bardiya remain accessible.
Do I need a special permit to trek in Western Nepal?
Yes. Western Nepal includes restricted areas that require special permits. Dolpa requires a Dolpa Restricted Area Permit (around USD 500/week). Humla and some high-altitude zones also need permits. We handle all permit logistics for our guests.
How fit do I need to be for Western Nepal treks?
Fitness requirements vary by route. Rara Lake is moderate and suitable for most trekkers. Api Base Camp and Dolpa Circuit are challenging, requiring prior high-altitude experience. We offer itineraries for all fitness levels.
What is the best way to get to Western Nepal for trekking?
Most treks start with a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, Surkhet, or Jumla — followed by a shorter mountain flight or road journey. We arrange all transport logistics as part of our packages.
Is solo trekking possible in Western Nepal?
Some routes allow solo trekking, but Western Nepal's remote terrain means medical help and evacuation can be very far away. We strongly recommend guided treks and satellite communication devices for all remote routes.
