I was born in a village above Jumla bazaar, and the Rara trail was the way to my relatives' house long before it was a trek. I started carrying for expeditions as a teenager and have guided the Jumla-Rara-Mugu routes in every season since.
What I care about on a trip is pace. The west is high and dry and the lodges are far apart, so I plan days around water and weather, not a brochure. If you want to see the lake with nobody else on the shore, ask me about late autumn.
