Koshi Tappu at the flood plains of the Koshi River in eastern Nepal is Nepal's most important wetland and a Ramsar site. Over 500 bird species have been recorded — including over 100 Critically Endangered species. The last surviving wild Asian water buffalo (arnah) survive here. Prime birdwatching runs October–April.
